The Demsoft is a Electric Motor Softstarter and was designed for the harsh south african market. The Demsoft electronics has been designed for 380, 525,1000 vac systems (other voltages on request).

Some of the applications that the Demsoft have been used for are the following:

The Demsoft softstarter reliability has proven its self at numerous sites in the coal sector. Its ruggedness has outstripped many of the new imported types of softstarters that have come onto the market

Du-em has had 20 years experience in this field. We have designed using standard high  qualitity components. The back bone of the drive is he inteligent  Demsoft control card that can be used for any size drive by just programming the paramitters for size and application. One of our specialities is the 1000vac application and we use high quality thyristors (with a minimum of 3200 PIV devices), snubbing components (oil cooled caps and wire wound resistors). All our softstarters have been designed for 6 times starting current if a greater starting current is required please contact us for assistance and we will assist you with your request.

We like to recommend that all softstarters are fitted with a bypass contactor. This will reduce the heat build up in the panel from the thyristors being continuesly on line and also increase the life span of the softstarter as it does not have to carry the current continuosly. The softstarters have been designed to run continuesly online so if the bypass contactor does not come in (or one is not fitted)it will not compromise the normal operation of the system. Even though the bypass contactor has come in the electronic monitoring still protects the motor for over current while running and lock rotor if a fault occurs the electronics will drop out the bypass contactor and ramps down to the stop condition and will log the fault condition.
